The story
James Bond's drink: it appears in Casino Royale, chapter 7 ("Rouge et Noir").
History
It appeared in 1953 in Ian Fleming's novel Casino Royale, in which James Bond dictates the recipe to the bartender. Outside of fiction, a dedication by Fleming indicates that it was his friend Ivar Bryce who made the first Vesper; Fleming himself said in 1958 that, on tasting the drink months after writing the book, he found it undrinkable.
