History
The origin is uncertain. It is usually credited to Frank Meier, of the bar at the Hotel Ritz in Paris, but the cocktail book he published in 1936 gives the recipe without the mark he used to indicate his own creations. The Buck's Fizz, a close relative that appeared in London in 1921, is treated by the IBA as a synonym.
