History
The fizz is a variation on the sour family finished with soda water, and the gin version is a close relative of the Tom Collins. It was very popular in the United States between 1900 and the 1940s and became a New Orleans specialty. It was there that Henry C. Ramos created the most famous variation, the Ramos Gin Fizz, in 1888.
